I used a Yakima rack on my '99 740iL to transport a mountain bike and a tandem on the roof at the same time. Rack was easy to mount and I never had a problem with scratches.

For more info click on the link below, enter the site, and click "Choose My Rack" to build a rack for your car.

I think the most important detail is to find a bike shop that has "the rack person", someone with years of experience who will build and place the rack per exact specs of the manufauturer as it pertains to your car.

Anyone have experience with a "good, sturdy" rack for transporting 2 bikes? I have been using my Audi A6 with out concern, and which I am dumping shortly. I must use my 2001 740i Sport, and want to be "very careful" about scratching the car.
Thanks
