The new 7 series, the E65 will have a 42 volt electrical system. You think the dealer gouged before on battery prices, they will think they have an exclusive here for sure. The 42 volt system is a new SAE standard, but BMW may well be the first to use it in the US.

Should be some interesting transition times as the industry moves away from all those 12 volt systems, consumer accessories, after market audio/video etc. However it is all those devices that is driving the industry to the change. Exciting times when someone tries to jump start their 12 volt car to a 42 volt system!
