James,

How does the air filter look? Is it clogged?
Check the throttle body assembly. There are 2 butterfly assemblies in our throttle body. The one closest to the plenum (air chamber under the black BMW cover) is controlled by the gas pedal. The second one (closest to the air filter) is controlled by the traction computer. Check to see if the wire harness to the front butterfly valve is connected properly. Check to see if the butterfly controlled by the traction control computer has partially closed. It should be wide open at all times, unless the computer "sees" wheel slip.

Try a pint of fuel injector cleaner while you are at it. Partial fuel flow cloud cause the symptoms you describe also.

I hope this helps.

Simeon

PS: For anyone wanting a little more launch, there are 2 "removeable" screens on each side of the mass air flow sensor. Removing them will improve the flow of air into the motor, and slightly improve responsiveness.
