Here are the part numbers:

Old unit (for 95'): 6418 8 369 781
New unit (year not known): 6411 8 377 541

$600 to replace a unit that I understand costs around $450 and takes 3 minutes to replace, sounds like a ripoff. You can do it easily yourself. E-mail me if you want more help with how to do it. I haven't confirmed the price of this unit, so if anyone checks into it let us know. THe used one I found isn't perfect, so I may replace it with a new one some time later.

I honestly don't know what are the best sources of parts like this. I found one through an independent mechanic shop. Many shops have connections with used parts distributors, just ask any that seems to do some work on german cars.

Hope that helps, good lucK! Let me know if I can help. The picture shows the one I put in, but as mentioned I don't know which year it is from.

T.

Thanks for your help Big-T! My A/C Control on my 95 740i is bad and the Dealer wants $600 to replace it. Do you know the part number of the newer control panel replacement unit? Where is the best place to get a used one?
Thanks!
- Tim

Guys,

Some of you have asked about the AC control panel in the dash, which needs to be replaced in its entirety in order to fix the missing pixels in the temp displays.

See link below, page 7, for instructions. It's really easy and takes a few minutes (took me less than 3 minutes). I'm happy answer questions if you're planning to do this. I would recommend finding the newer style panel if you're replacing on a 95' model.

Big-T
