HEY ONCE AGAIN YA'LL,
So far I have the following:
1. The intake manifold is leaking-causing a vacuum leak. As the engine warms up the gasket/seals expand and seal the leak. thanks James
2. Inside the plate on the back of the intake manifold, that the brake booster lines plug into, has a leak..get inside check for air flow when the engine is started cold. thanks CTE38
3. Fuel injectors clogged-check engine light comes on. thanks force98
4. Rough idle (hot or cold out side temps) and check engine light comes on-fuel pump problem. thanks DL
I/we (OX and I) still don't have a real feel for what might be the problem. The owners manual has to start the engine and go...I on the other hand, have to start the engine and wait for about 3 minutes before I can go; again, not unlike a carburetor type engine with an automatic choke on it.
I haven't had a check engine light come on, as of this time and this afternoon I noticed that the car had the same problems after sitting in the parking lot from 0545 to 1400 hours.
Has/does anyone have any past experience in this problem and a good feel for what might fix it.

Hi again ya'll,
Got a problem with my 1997 740i running very ruff after it cranks up first thing in the morning. The last couple of mornings have been "cool" as in the low fifties and the engine kind-of almost stalls...dies...stumbles, then runs very ruff. If I give the engine some gas it really stutters, I have to "pat" the throttle until the RPMs get above 1000. The engine has never 'died' but with out the patting of the throttle it doesn't move the car forward. After the Temperature needle gets above the blue 'hash' mark the engine smooths out a little and when the engine is at operating temperature it runs just great. If this engine had a carbartor I'd say that the choke is messed up, because it's injected is there a 'cold start' injector or pulg or something that isn't working right?
Any thoughts?
