Hope this helps:

I owned a CPO Lexus LS400 with all options including adjustable air suspension with sport mode and now a 95 740iL (motor recently rebuilt under warranty for M60 Engine campaign)
Here are my subjective ratings:
Motor: BMW more powerful and satisfying, Lexus smoother, quieter, less powerful. Rating: Draw
Transmission: BMW Adaptive beets Lexus hands down.
Brakes: No comparison, BMW much better
Handling: No comparison, BMW much better
Stereo: No comparison, Lexus Nakamichi much better.
Comfort/rear seat room: No comparison, BMW much better
Front seats: BMW better, but both excellent
Driving position: BMW better, but both excellent
Reliability: No comparison, Lexus much better
Trunk: BMW bigger
Dash/Gauges/wood trim: Personal preference, I like the 7 better.
Road Manners: BMW more stable and maneuverable, Lexus feels like a boat in comparison.
Interior sound: No comparison, lexus much quieter.

Personally, I think the jag is too small for a full size car.

The Lexus will be cheaper to operate, but the BMW will be more enjoyable. As long as you get a comprehensive extended warranty with a low deductable and a rental car rider, you'll be fine with the BMW after your initial investment.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.
