howdy folks -

I was hoping that one or some of you could help to diagnose a wierd sound that I am getting when releasing the accelerator from a depressed position.

It occurs between 55 and 65 mph and essentially sounds like an extra loud exhaust rumble - almost like a backfire, but not as lound and a bit longer in duration.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the always excellent advice in advance....

Vacuum leaks tend to make the engine back fire some what. Alot of other things can also make that happen but the car would missfire all the time. Vacuum leaks also tend to show up on decel.
