Also, the 94' is most likely an E32, so you could get more specific info on this model on the E32 board - this is the E38 board.

Hello. I am looking into purchasing a '98 740il with 99k miles from a friend. I have never owned a BMW before. Can you suggest particular things to look for? How would you rate this model year vehicle? Any particular mechanical defects associated with this model year? What's a fair price if it is mechanically sound and good interior/exterior? Thanks.
