I was told that the BMW phone that plugs into the 1999 7-Series costs $2800.

Pacific BMW sells a cell phone kit for $350 that appears to offer all the same features. If this is so, why would anybody ever buy the BMW model?

Also, does anyone have any experience with setting up the car phone in such a way that the car phone can share the same service and number as your existing phone? I use AT&T One-Rate.

Thanks!

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the phone lists for $595 and the installation kit sells for $355, which adds up to $950. This is still a far cry from $2800.
