I bought a 2000 740IL from a dealer in Pompano via EBay. His ebay id is pompanodlr@aol.com. It had 36K miles and I got it for $42K. I am very pleased, considering the local BMW dealer wanted $48K for a pre-certified 98.

I had my cousin take a look at it first. Also, I had him right a 7 day right of return (at my cost) if I wanted to return it for whatever reason.

The car cost $700 to be shipped from Miami to just outside Chicago.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on buying a car on eBay. The prices are lower than the dealer's by far. But what about caveat emptor? The thought of flying halfway across the country to find a mis-repesented cheap vehicle doesn't appeal to me very much. However, if some companies are getting clean cars at auction coming off lease, then maybe this is a cost-effective way to purchase one. Thanks.
