let it cool off a little so you don't get burned.
The plastic lid comes off in a counter clockwise
rotation and should not take a whole lot to break
loose unless it was over tightened. If you dont
have the right size socket you can put a rag over
the top of the lid and use a pair of channel locks to remove it. I've done it twice with
channel locks and it worked fine. When you screw
back on, get it as tight as you can with your bare
hand and then snug it down with the channel locks
but you don't need to put much effort into it.
Just get it snug. To remove the filter from the
lid just give it a jerk. You will have to remove
the plastic under the car to get at the drain
plug. Just turn the screws around the edges and
it drops right down. It is easy to put back on
so don't worry about that. I put 5w-30 BMW
high perf synthetic in mine the last time I
changed the oil. Mobil 1 is fine as well. Good
luck.
