It is as easy as it looks. Lower the steering wheel all the way down and remove the two screws and remove the connector and lift the instrument cluster to one side. From my reading in the repair manual, you may lose the mileage settings and other things that may be contained in the module that is connected to the instrument panel. So beware. I am not sure about this and could not get a precise answer from anyone when I was considering changing mine out to fix the pixel problem. The last step in the installation section states, "Encode electroic unit once again after replacement, refer to Diagnosis Encoding. Please let me know how it comes out. I would like to find a used module and change mine out too. Where did you get yours?97 740iL
Is it a simple matter to replace the instrument cluster? There appears to be two screws at the top of the cluster. Do you unscrew these, and pull out the cluster? Or is there something else that I'm not seeing. Thanks.
