Coolant Leak (archive)

I have coolant leaking from the vicinity of the water pump on a '95 740il. After closer inspection it appears the thermostat housing has a hairline crack. It appears to be made out of a composite/plastic material. At higher rpm's coolant seeps from this crack. When I thought it was the water pump I called the dealer and they indicted the water pump is covered under the CPO warranty. Does anybody know if the thermostat housing is covered? Is the thermostat housing a typical failure point, like the radiator?
