Perhaps the electrical connection, at the locking mechanism (behind the carpet, inside the trunk) has corrosion. Un-plug the wire and replug it in a few times (at the selenoid...locking mechanism) to see if it helps.

I am having the same problem with my 95 il, can't wait to hear the fix.

I have a 95 740i and I noticed that the fuel latch remains unlocked after all the doors are locked. anybody had this problem before and possible fix? Thanks!
