I had the same problem on my 95 740iL. I had to replace the selnoid for the fuel door latch. I don't remember the part being that expensive, however I do remember having a hard time installing it due to the tight location. Mine has worked fine ever since.

I have a 95 740i and I noticed that the fuel latch remains unlocked after all the doors are locked. anybody had this problem before and possible fix? Thanks!
