When I bought my 95 740iL this year, the original factory honeycomb rims had six years worth of paint chips, road rash, etc.
I bought some Dupli-Color Scratch-Fix touch up paint in the small bottle with the little brush in the cap. (This is available in most major auto parts stores.)
I have found that GM SF 340 (Silver Metallic Clearcoat) is a perfect match for the factory honeycomb rims. Two coats of this and the road rash becomes only visible at very close distances.
Anyway, you get a lot of "bang for the buck" out of this product if you have the factory rims.
I couldn't tell from your post what type of rims you have, but perhaps you or others on the board will find this simple tip helpful.
