Upon replacement of defective parts, it is normal pratice for the dealer to use the latest/updated versions.

Examples: newer climate control has a "max" button instead of "rest" and steering wheel seek buttons will invoke preset search instead of station search.

From what your described, and what Force98 has written, I'd say you have an updated cluster that remembers its previous state.

JAMES.

Had the dealer replace under warranty on my 98 iL the instrument display module because I was having the floating missing pixel problem. When I press the turn signal arm to invoke the display, I am able to cycle thru all of the functions. However, when I turn off the engine and then turn it back on, the function that was last displayed comes up again automatically. Before the module was replaced, whenever the engine was turned off and then on again, the display automatically displayed a blank screen.

Which is the proper setting upon start up, and are the settings programmable as to what appears at startup (ie, the last function displayed prior to engine shut off)?

Thanks for all your help. Happy holidays.

jk
