Leo,

Recommend taking the car to an independent mechanic that specializes in BMWs. Pep Boys is unlikely to have the expertise to evaluate it correctly and will not know all the quirks associated with these cars.

This could have something to do with the engine block problem on 93-95 models, but no way to tell from the terminology.
Good luck.

"There's a chip in the main cylinder"?

I am looking to buy a used 1995 740i, overall condition is great, with low miles. However, the used-car inspection report indicated that "There a chip in the main cylinder".

Anyone knows what it means? Big problem? Small problem? The inspection was at a local PepBoys shop, since making appointment at BMW dealer takes at least 3-4 weeks...

thanks a lot!
Leo
