I wasn't clear from your posting....are you using coolant? Finding a puddle under the vehicle? Puffs of whitish smoke from exhaust? Sometimes those things are symptoms of a blown head gasket...coolant is leaking into one or more cylinders, and you are burning it. Especially to be considered if you use coolant, but find no obvious leaks under vehicle or in or around block.

Small puddle of green coolant is evident on the garage floor, every day. Maybe what appears to be a few tablespoons worth. If it were only a leak in the radiator, would it explain why I smell it when the heater comes on. I see no evidence of white smoke, or any smoke for that matter. Had my wife drive the car while I took her, uh, uh, minivan, god I hope no one saw me, and followed her. She put up with me following her for about two minutes and then decided to drag race some guys in a car next to her, AND THEN WAS GONE!
ARGGGG! DOOOPE! She came back about an HOUR later!
I have put a 2500 miles on the car so far. No oil has burned. Dipstick reading is exactly what it was 2500 miles prior. That surprised me for a car with this many miles. Oil color looked good. Car has all service records, looks well maintained. Just this one problem so far.
