Wheels don't really add to the look in terms of newer models. The only option for that would be the M-Parallels. Aftermarket wheels can't really make your car look newer, just nicer.

There are tons of options, both in terms of designs and sizes. Check out Tire Rack's interactive wheel fitment system where you can see wheels on the car (www.tirerack.com). Other sources are www.victoriatire.com, www.bekkers.com, www.turnermotorsport.com, www.motorworks.com, www.bavauto.com, and many more.

Pick something you like, and look at pics of other cars to see how it looks on the car. See link below for a list of E38's, many of which have aftermarket wheels. The pic is my car with 18" BBS RX.
