No, there are two sides to the story. I own both a 735i and and an E38 740il. They both do there job extremely well. My 735i, which I bought new, now has 14 years and 240K on it and it still performs beautifully. I have inherited it from my wife, this year after selling my '85 E23. My 740iL which my wife mainly drives, is a reliable, world class cruiser with power to spare, and no real problems to report. The back seat accommodation is luxurious. There can't be a better designed car in the world. Yet, I still love to drive that 735i with its impeccable appointments and reliable, but less dramatically performing engine. The electronics on the '88 735i, though, have been troublesome and keep me going on repair. But, its been worth it. Bob H.
