James, from my reading of the TIS, this is true. You can disconnect the instrument panel and reconnect it without and reset/reconfig. I believe that the only problem that arises is when you change it out to an new or another unit. I HAVE NOT DONE THIS, SO PROCEED WITH THAT CAVEAT. Let me know how it comes out. I am still trying to get around to cleaning the connections on mine to see if it affects the missing pixel problem.

I presume that the instrument cluster has battery backup so that I can remove it and disconnect the harness w/o needing dealer reset/reconfig after reinstallation?

Please verify.
