The memory for the functions in the cluster are located elsewhere, like mileage and things like that. Shouldn't be a problem to remove the cluster.

I pulled the Cluster off my old three series for atleast 5 days!!

I was doing a White Gauge Face upgrade...

When I was done, I popped it back in and back to normal...

I even drove the car with no Gauges...
I never had a problem..I assume it will be the same on the 7 ...
