DB,

I have a 96 IL and installed a CD changer in the trunk this year. Worked fine right from plug-in. I'm sure yours will too. Installation was easy. Recommend contacting somewhere like Pacific BMW (where I ordered mine) to confirm--they'll know if it will and which CD player is appropriate. I have a 6 CD changer. Link is below. Recommend a little price shopping. Happy to answer questions if necessary.

Previous posts on this site said Interstate made a compatible battery, but I don't have the specifications.

Also, if you aren't a BMW car club member, you might consider becoming a member if the mail order places give the discount. Could save you the $35 annual fee right there.

Take care
Bob J

I just acquired a 1997 BMW 740iL and was wondering if there was a source for the battery other than BMW, also the car didn't have a CD player installed, but is the factory radio CD ready if I installed a changer in the trunk? Thanks!
