Do you have any white smoke in your exhaust? This might be indicative of a bad head gasket. This problem would not be readily evident if the leak is small, but it will mess up your cats if you let it go. Another possibility might be a leaking heater core, but with any significant heater core leak you should smell coolant inside the cabin as well as see condenstation on your windshield after running the car and parking it. These along with the normal suspects (radiator, water pump, hoses, etc...) are where you might want to start looking.
BTW did you get your radiator and water pump repaced when the short block repacement was done? Both of these components have a life expectancy of somewhere between 80K and 100K miles, and are probably approaching the end of their service lives. A number of people on this board have had the M60 short block repacement done, only to have their radiator or water pump fail within the next couple of months.

Hey guys,
just recently I started getting a 'Check Coolant Level' message. I have filled the coolant tank and the message briefly goes away, only to return later. The car is a 95 740 with the engine having been replaced about 12,000 miles ago. I don't notice any leaks. Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve
