I have a 99 740 Sport and it has the big clunky, analog phone. I'm being told that analog service is being phased out and my best bet is to upgrade to the digital package for $2000. Anyone have any experience with this? Recommendations?


Unfortunately, many of us have had this problem (and BMW should be ashamed of themselves for supplying us with such hardwired and inflexible phones). I found analog service from Cingular cellular here on the east coast (it's not cheap, and not many minutes, but at least the phone works). Like you, I've heard that the cost to convert would be a small fortune (and no one at the dealer can ever give me a straight answer on exactly what it will cost and what is required). One day analog will go the way of eight track and I guess I'll have to move.
