First of all, you can never damage a sub with too little power, it's physically impossible - although that is one of the prevalent myths out there on the dark side of audiophile world. Only too much power can damage a sub.Your sub/amp combo should work fine.

My subs work very well. I have no rattles other than slightly when I play extremely loud, but not enough to be a problem. If you do have rattles you basically have to pinpoint the source of the rattles and do whatever it takes. Sometimes it helps to dynamat areas, and sometimes you can reduce rattles just by ensuring that various panels and screws are properly tightened. It can be a time consuming process but probably worth it. Make sure you locate the source of the rattles though, or your efforts will not pay off.

Best of luck!

hey guys..

i just got a new sub for xmas.. yup it's early but what the hell.. anyhow.. I had a 120W alpine amp driving a piece of crap MTX sub before.. (not to bag on MTX, cuz they do make quality stuff but this is the blue thunder entry level sub) but I just got a JL Audio ProWedge 12" 12w3 sub w/enclosure. The sub does 250W continuous but i'm just concerned that running too little power may damage the speaker.. i've been told in the past that underpowering a sub can cause damage.. can anyone confirm this?

Also, for anybody else that's gotten a sound upgrade, did u guys end up with a bunch of rattles in the trunk?? I cranked my sub up to see how loud it was from the outside and i heard this plurality of rattling sounds from the trunk. It seems like they come from the taillights or somewhere underneath but it's driving me nuts. I'm considering having the trunk dynamatted or dressed up with some sound deadening foam.. any suggetsions?

Big-T: I noticed u put in a pair of 12s into your car. Did u end up with any rattles? if so, how did u get rid of them?

any help is much appreciated!!

steve
