There are many posts in the archives about waxes and finishes. The CarCareOnline site seems to be knowledgable about different finishes and recommends caruba-based waxes for German paint. I use one and it seems to do fine. My car is a white 96 and shows some swirls if you look hard enough. My advice is to follow the wash and wax guidelines and then not look too closely at the finish. The closer you look (like most things in life), the more imperfections you'll see and you'll end up doing too much to the finish rather than not enough.
