and then backs down to 550 rpm. But it does not do this during the hot months.

But I did have a car that fluctuates. It starts
at 1750 on a very cold day (and sometimes gets worse), goes down to 1250, goes back up to 1500 and then down to 700 in about two cd tracks (8 or so minutes). And then I engage the transmission.

Again, dealer said it was normal. Engine's computer compensates for the temp.
