I was told by the BMW Center in San Antonio that the auto-lock feature is part of the Car Memory function which did not start until '99. I have a feeling this is not correct, but have not been able to prove otherwise. I have seen some other posts that state some features are available all the way back to '95 and others are for '99 and newer.I don't care about Key Memory as I am the sole driver of the car, so settings such as the seat/mirrors/steering wheel/stereo/climate control do not get changed without me doing so.

I have a '98 and would like this feature activated as well as getting rid of the horrendous squawk of the alarm chirp - if you can call it a chirp at all. Was told neither can be done on a '98.

Anyone know otherwise for sure? I'd be willing to drive to Austin to have a competent tech activate these for me if possible.

All these "features" can be programmed by the dealer only. Usually they do it for free...
