On the driver side just above the hood release lever is a small black button, that's the trunk release, I had a hard time finding it too, but I was looking in the glove compartment. :-)

I think I read in the manual if you are in an bad accident the doors unlock and the fuel pump shuts off and the interior lights remain on.

Just hope we never have to need this feature.
