Yes, two primary disadvantages come to mind:

Cross-drilled rotors are prone to cracking, with the cracks developing around the drilled holes. The drilling weakens the rotor and reduces its life.

These rotors are also harder on brake pads, with a frequent analogy being cheese grater...

The first item can be overcome by having the rotors cast with the holes in them, which I believe is the Por$$$che approach.

Not sure about a remedy for the second, except to replace rotors more often.

Another approach is to go with slotted rotors - not nearly the rotor fatigue nor pad wear and you get at least some of the benefits of cross-drilling.
