Jeff,

If the measurements are all in the same type of vehicle, the vehicle with the 2.93:1 rear diff will have a slightly higher top speed than the 3.15:1 car will.

The 3.15:1 car will achieve it's top speed earlier than the taller geared 2.93:1 car will.

BTW the 2.82:1 ratio is for the 750il & 540i Sport.

The 2.93:1 ratio is for the 740iL

The 3.15:1 ratio is found in the 740i Sport, M5, and of course "Baby".
