Jeff,

If the measurements are all in the same type of vehicle, the vehicle with the 2.93:1 rear diff will have a slightly higher top speed than the 3.15:1 car will.

The 2.93:1 will yield a higher theoretical top speed. Top speed is dependent on more than gearing. Assuming the vehicle’s top speed is not aerodynamically limited, it may not have the “juice” to produce the rpm to achieve its theoretical limit. The 3.15 theoretically could achieve a higher top speed because the lower gearing will allow more rpm to be achieved.
The 3.15:1 car will achieve it's top speed earlier than the taller geared 2.93:1 car will.
