Just fixed the "Low Coolant" problem on my '95 740i. Seems like every week or so, when I would get into wife’s 740i, the LOW COOLANT message would come on. I'd add a little water, about a cup full, & it would be fine for another week. After 3 months of this, I started to check to see if I could find the source of the leak. I end up finding it at the thermostat housing. It's plastic, and since to dealer had it in stock, assumed to be a common problem. So beware of this and suspect it 1st. I found (2) small cracks in mine. I went ahead & replaced the thermostat & seal at the same time. About $50 in parts from my dealer. I'll post a picture if anyone is interested.
