I looked at the procedure in the TIS this morning. It looks like quite an undertaking to get the heater core out. It will require removal of the lower left and right sides of the dashboard, complete removal of the center console, before you can even see the core.
I can send you the procedure if you would like, but for a DIY job, I would estimate that this will take at least 3 days, plus whatever time is required for the dealer or parts house to get you the new core. I consider myself a pretty accomplished DIY mechanic, and I don't think I would want to tangle with this one.

Got in the car tonight put the heat on and smell of antifreeze came inside along with windshield and windows fogging up. I hope that I can do the job myself, this is my first repair problem since I bought the car in november.
I had a lincoln town before and those ford cars are a nightmare when it comes to putting in a heater core.
A question arises to me that , and I am asking you guys or (gals) on this board for your experience, is can it be as simple as a hose? But if it were that, I assume then that it would not fog the inside cabin. I dont think that there are hoses inside the cabin, or are there. I am definately leaking inside the cabin with fog and fumes on windows.

My question is I'd like to do it myself if possible, and if anyone on this board could send me heater core replacement instructions I would appreciate it.

How difficult is it to access the heater core and where is it in the cabin . I assume it is under the dash connected to the fire wall . Is it on the left side of under the glove box. Appreciating any and all input on this , Howie
