Speed limiter question (archive)

I'm still considering the Dinan upgrades, either Stage I or II, but went for a little road trip today and have a question. All of the threads I've read here refer to a limiter at 12x mph. I drove my '01 740il at 130 and 140 for about 5 minutes at each speed and never saw any indication of a "limiter". Before I went to 140 I reset the Average Speed indicator on the computer and watched it go along with me to 140+mph so I assume the speedo is correct. Anyone know what could account for this? Anyone have experience bumping up against the limiter and its behavior? I'm still looking forward to the upgrades if I could only get some feedback to my earlier posts, and feel confident that the Nashville dealer will be a better relationship that my original dealer.
