My wife left the sunroof open in the rain and the same thing happened. I disconnected the phone by pulling the plug under the cradle. You have to remove the cradle to get at the plug. This stopped the on and off tones. I was not using the phone any more because it was an analog type. I replaced the headset with my friends 740il but still did the same thing. I believe it is the cradle since it has an electronic board inside.

Folks,
I have an OE phone: CMT 3000VR. Water dripped on it from the sunroof. It stopped working altogether for about a week and then came back to life, but as a different phone. It turns on and off again and again when the car is off and, when the car is on, if it is turned off, it will not come back to life. The lower the ambient temperature, the more likely it is to turn on and off like this.

I replaced the handset, to no avail. My dealer says it might then be the eject box or the transducer module, but that it cannot get those parts because the phone is too old. Before I embark on a search for those parts, I thought I'd see if any of you had experience with similar issues with this model phone.

Thanks,

Jim
