Before you go any further, you MUST check into the situation with the engine. The 95' model has an engine with nikasil cylinder linings that react with sulfur in the gasoline and cause corrosion of the cyliner walls prematurely. BMW extended the warranty on the engine block but it was limited to 6 years. Unless you can verify whether the block was replaced OR get a perfect score on the "leak down" test, forget about this car. Read more about this on www.koalamotorsport.com and www.530i.org.

This is a critical issue, do not buy this car under any circumstance unless you can verify the situation with the engine.

I am thinking about buying a 1995 740i with about 87,000 miles on it in good condition. I can get the car for 15,000 however it will need a brake job and new tires. Could you guys tell me how much i might be spending for a brake job at the BMW dealer. Thanks
