I was having the very same problem with my 95 740iL that I purchased last November. I had an E32 before the idiot rear-ended me and totaled it. I removed my cd-changer from the E32 because it had not come equiped with one,so when I bought the E38 I began using the magazine from the E32 which was already loaded with 6 of my favorites. Immediately I began experiencing skips on very small bumps which was not the case before. The new car came with 2 magazines so one day I decided to switch to the newer mags. and have not had a skip since. I hope your problem was as easy to solve as mine.
I purchased my 740il in '97 and lately have problems with the cd-changer skipping over relatively small bumps. I'm out of warranty...took it to dealer and they suggested new magazine which did not fix problem. Any suggestions on whether to suck it up and buy new cd-changer from dealer or to get one from a local car stereo dealer? If latter, what should I get that will work with the BMW stereo (premium sound) system?
