The question was "7 rims to 5 chassis". The center bore on the E39 hub is larger making the E38 wheel's center bore too small. You can use hubcentric rings in an E39 wheel for an E38 hub.

I think the E38 center bore is 72 mm.
& the E39 is 74.5 mm.
