If fan is working it is probably not a fuse or relay. It is either a contoller board, or a stepper motor that is not functioning. I suspect you will need to make a dealer visit.
As luck would have it, the driver's side HVAC system in my wife's 1998 740il has suddenly stopped producing heat, even if temp setting is boosted all the way up to 90*. All the fan speeds/settings work fine and everything else seems OK, but there is just NO driver's side heat. The passenger side seems OK (not "sauna heat", but better than the arctic blast on the driver's side). This was a sudden condition - no advance warning at all. Possibly a relay or fuse of some kind?
Any guidance or advice from the resident experts would be sincerely appreciated. We have an appointment at the shop this Friday (3/8), but if it is only a fuse or something I would like to avoid the logistical hassle of the shop visit.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Randal
