Okay I read the archive telling you to jumper pin 7 and 19 to reset service lights. I tried this and it didnt work any chance this doesnt work for a 97 740 il. Ill left the key to the second position for at least 20 seconds. Need help, thanks.

The lights are reset not by the time that the ignition is turned to the on position but by the amount of time before the circuit is jumped before being broken with the ignition still in the #2 position. That is to reset the oil lights you need to have the ignition in #2 position jumped the two pins for 4-5 seconds and break the circuit, then turn the key to off and back on. The best way is to fabricate a jumper wire with a toggle switch. See the link to my post from about a month ago with a picture of homemade reset tool.

Regards,
Roderick
