OPUS - I have "flamed" a few responses over the past month or so regarding the E65. Why is my position on this car so intense? For many years BMW has had a purposeful evolution to its ultimate driving machines. I had confidence that the next "new" model would retain all of what I love about BMWs and evolve some improvements to make things better. Right or wrong, I never saw BMW as focusing on goofy style things - rather more of an engineers or "serious" driver's car. My perception is that the E65 is a departure from my experience and perception of BMW - and not a good one. My comments on this board - along with those of many others, may get to BMW and cause them to reflect a bit more on where they are going with the heart and soul of what has been BMW - "ultimate DRIVING machine" and thought through evolution. Sales #s on the new 7 will probably dictate how much redesign (if any) will take place in 2003 and 2004 models. BUT - it is not too late to stop this trend for the new 5, and future 3 etc. So - I state my :-( about the current E65. I hope that your love affair lasts for as many years as you are thinking. We just sold our little 325i after 15 years - still runs great but parts are getting harder to obtain, more time in the shop, and at the end of the day it is a mechanical device that does get consumed - so another purchase. Our little 325i returned to our driveway for the new owner to get some guidance on resetting the radio code - we smiled and still miss it :-)
