Patrick:
We took a European Delivery of our 01 740iL last April. It had the European First Aid kit and the warning triangle in their places. The BMW delivery specialist and the E. H. Harms shipping guy told us to remove these items when we dropped the car off for shipment to the US because the dock workers steal them for resale since they are required in all European autos.
We did so, brought them home in our luggage (you probably can't do that today), and when our car was redelivered in Phoenix in July, a US version of the First Aid Kit was in place. We now have both first aid kits and one warning triangle.
Hope this clears up your question.
Dean L.
