I've go a 2001 740I sport and had to have the cup-holder replaced by the stealer....saw the service manager remove the back seat....the vertical and horizontal sections of the seat are seperate...."reach under the vertical portion of the seat...right into the "crack" with your fingers"....grab the back edge of the horizontal section and give a good yank upwards....the seat is "hinged"in the front.....hope this helps
