when the ignition switch is on, so this will give you an "ignition on" power source for your radar detector. If you mount the radar detector adjacent to the rear view mirror, tap into the power and ground wires feeding the sunroof prior to the sunroof switch. Make sure that the polarity is correct to avoid possibly frying the radar detector.
