Just bought a 2001 740i Sport (archive)

Let me just say how great this message board is. I read all of your comments for weeks before buying my 2001 740i Sport a few weeks ago. It's CPO'd, Biarritz Blue with Tan interior and has 22k on the odometer. While my family has had BMW's for years, this is my first BMW. And now I know why all you guys are so diehard about this car! It's awesome!

I debated between the new 745i and the 2001, and while the 745 is a great driver and has a bit better steering feel than my car (probably due to the rack and pinion set-up on the new car), I hate the new cars front and back ends. And the idea of not have a shift lever between the front seats just seemed too strange. But anyway, since you guys are the experts, I have a couple of questions:

1) While the car is exceedingly quiet, I've noticed that the rear sunshade rattles and makes quite a bit of noise, even over small bumps, especially when retracted. Is there a cure for this? It's really irritating and distracts my ears from the wonderful rumble of the engine.

2) What cellular service providers are compatible with the CPT 7000 StarTac? I think the prior owner had ATT, but I would prefer Verizon. Is there anyway to convert to the CPT 8000, which is compatible with Sprint? Any ideas?

I would appreciate any of your insights. By the way, I searched around for my car for about a month. I finally found this one at Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo. I got a great deal and the buying experience was a breeze, especially after dealing with the horrible dealers here in the SF bay area. Anybody in the market for a new/used BMW should give them a call.
