Sorry for the delayed response. I've been swamped at work. I paid $54,500, down from an asking price of $56,000. I searched for a CPO'd 2001 740i Sport for weeks, and this was the cheapest by far. Stevens Creek BMW in San Jose had 2 2000 740i Sports, Imola Red and Oxford Green, both with around 20k miles for $60,000/firm. Can you believe that? A year older for almost $6,000 more ! After dealing with them, I decided to call Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, which is north of LA, even though I had to fly down to buy the car. The certified search engine on BMWNA's site is pretty good. That's how I found this car. Check it out and you should be able to find a good deal. But if you find one for $53-$54k (with normal miles), I would snap it up.

i'm in the market for one too, but sad to say, prices are close at sticker price, where as I could have bought a brand new one for $58K 8 months ago. how much did you pay?
