Thanks for the replies. I'm going to have the alignment checked at an independent shop before shelling out for new tires.

I must have been partially sleeping when I made the posts today - we have a 2000 and NOT a 2001 740iL - DOUBLE DUH!!! Too bad it's not that easy to get a newer car...
